Why I Gained 5 Kilos After Moving to the Netherlands – And What Finally Helped

When I first moved to the Netherlands, I was excited about everything — the canals, the bikes, the cozy cafés, the stroopwafels. But within a few months, I noticed something I wasn’t so excited about: my clothes were tighter, my energy was lower, and the scale showed +5 kilos.

At first, I blamed it on the “honeymoon phase” of moving. But the truth was more complicated.

  • Different food culture. Suddenly, cheese, bread, and endless sauces were a daily reality.
  • Emotional eating. I missed home, and food became comfort.
  • No structure. My usual routines disappeared, and so did balanced meals.

I felt frustrated. I had moved for a better life — why did I feel worse in my body?

The turning point came when I realized: this wasn’t about dieting harder. It was about learning how to eat, live, and feel good here, in my new environment.

I created a plan for myself — one that worked with Dutch supermarkets, local products, and my actual lifestyle. Step by step, I built habits that gave me energy, helped me enjoy food without guilt, and naturally brought my weight back down.

And now, this is exactly what I help other expats do.

Imagine feeling lighter, more confident, and finally at home in your body — while also enjoying the best of Dutch life.

Unfortunately most expats wait too long. They promise themselves they’ll “figure it out later,” and months turn into years — with even more weight, more discomfort, and less energy.

Don’t let that be your story. My coaching spots are limited, and once they’re filled, they’re gone.

If you’re serious about changing how you feel in your body now, this is your chance. Apply today for my 1- or 2-month coaching program — and let’s get you results before another kilo creeps in.
